On 5 June 2018, the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development adopted the updated “Framework Action Plan for Organic Food and Farming in Poland for 2014-2020”. Its goal is to develop organic farming and organic food market in Poland.
The document indicates actions that should be taken and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as subordinate or supervised entities to achieve these goals. The adopted document assumes that for the development of organic farming it is necessary to implement measures in 7 areas, indicated as specific objectives. These are:
I. Increasing the competitiveness of organic farming and increasing the supply of organic food on the market;
II. Development of processing of organic products;
III. Diversification and strengthening distribution channels for organic products;
IV. Increased consumer knowledge about organic farming and organic food;
V. Increasing the level of cooperation between entities operating in the organic farming sector;
VI. Inclusion of government and self-government administration bodies in the development of the organic farming sector;
VII. Maintaining a high level of the control and certification system for organic products.
